What Squarespace does well

  • Every plan lists selling products and services and accepting payments, so an online store is possible from the cheapest plan.
  • Core and above add unlimited contributors, professional email from Google Workspace, and custom CSS and JavaScript.
  • Squarespace says annual plans include a free custom domain for one year, and you can connect a domain you already own.

Where Squarespace is harder for a local business

  • There is no permanent free plan. After the 14-day trial you need to subscribe to keep the site live.
  • The cheapest plan charges a 2% transaction fee on online store sales, plus card rates starting at 2.9% + $0.30.
  • The $19 price is for annual billing. Squarespace says paying annually saves up to 36% compared with paying monthly.

Where bizhq is the weaker choice

  • Your address is yourname.bizhq.page. You can't use your own .com on the free plan.
  • A site has 3 to 5 fixed pages. There is no blog.
  • No online store or payments, and no booking calendar on the site itself. The Book button opens the booking app you already use.
  • Visitor stats are simple counts of visits and button taps, not a full analytics tool.
  • One site per account.

Which should you pick?

Pick Squarespace if you want a polished design you build yourself, may sell products online, and are ready to pay from $19 a month billed annually.

Pick bizhq if you want a free site started for you, with nothing to subscribe to, a contact form and a way to download your whole site, that you can edit from your phone, and an address like yourname.bizhq.page is fine.
