Privacy policy
Moonbury ("we") runs bizhq.page, where local businesses build free websites. This page says what we collect and what we do with it. Questions or requests: hello@bizhq.page.
What we collect
- Your email address and a password, so you can sign in and we can write to you about your site. We store the password only in a scrambled (hashed) form that can't be turned back into it.
- What you put on your site: business name, type, address or service area, phone, email, hours, services, prices, photos and text. Anything you publish is public, on purpose.
- Visit statistics: Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views, the pages visited, referrers, countries and device types on bizhq.page and the sites we host. It sets no cookies and does not build profiles of individual visitors. On the sites we host, our own small counter also records page views and taps on buttons such as Call, Text and Book, per page and per day, so each owner can see how their site is doing. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in the visitor's browser, and keeps no IP addresses or visitor IDs.
- Messages sent through a site's contact form: the name, phone number or email, and message a visitor types. We store them for the site's owner and email them to the owner. They stay until the owner deletes them or the site is deleted. To stop spam, we keep a scrambled (hashed) form of the sender's IP address for about a day.
- If you ask for help: when you use Get help in the editor, we keep your account email, your site's name, the phone number and best time you give, and your message, so a person at bizhq can call you or make the changes. We email it to our own team only. We keep it until the request is dealt with and removed, or your account is deleted.
- Sign-in and security data: a cookie that keeps you signed in (up to 90 days), and your IP address, which we keep for about a day to limit abuse of the sign-in form.
- Where you came from: if you start from a button on one of our own pages, such as a blog post, we save that page's short label (for example "blog-free-website-builders") with your account, so we know which pages help people. It holds no personal information.
- If you ask for a paid upgrade: the domain names you'd like and the business details and photos you send us. Card details go to Square, our payment processor. We never see or store your card number.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your information, and we don't share it for advertising.
- We use no advertising trackers. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused service that counts page views and visits without cookies and without tracking individuals across sites.
- The only cookie we set is the sign-in cookie, and it is strictly needed to keep you signed in.
Who handles it for us
We use a few service providers who process data only to run bizhq:
- Cloudflare hosts the websites and stores our data, provides the visit statistics above, runs the "are you a person" check on the sign-in form, and delivers the emails we send you, such as password resets and messages from your site.
- DeepSeek translates the words on your site into Spanish, only when you turn on the Spanish version. We send it your site's text and nothing about you or your visitors.
- Square takes payments for optional paid services.
How we use your information
- To sign you in, host and publish your website, and keep the service safe and running.
- To answer your messages and to tell you about your site. If we ever email you about optional upgrades, you can ask us to stop and we will.
- To investigate abuse and comply with the law.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and site until you ask us to delete them. Password-reset links and IP addresses are cleared within about a day. If you delete your account, we remove your sites, photos and sign-in access. Payment records held by Square follow Square's own rules, and we may keep basic records the law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can unpublish your site any time from the editor. You can ask us, at hello@bizhq.page, to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you. If you live in California, you have these rights under state privacy law, and we won't treat you differently for using them.
Children
bizhq is for businesses run by adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and, where we can, email account holders.
